Sea Sick
I’ve never been Sea sick before,
Crashing waves rocking my body to the core,
The sound of chains
Screaming out for freedom
Men’s tears flowing on the cabin floor,
I’ve never been Sea sick before,
Men once strong
Now reduced to tears,
Tears flowing (Pause)
Sliding down the cabin floor,
Back
Fourth
Back
Fourth
I’ve never been Sea Sick before,
A small pebble can make ripples in a lake,
But these ripple are caused by the mountains,
Only mountains can rock this boat in a violent way,
I’ve never been Sea sick before,
I was shouted at like a stray dog scavenging for a meal,
Struck with whips for speaking in the only tongue i knew,
The smell of another man
dead
next to me,
I’ve never been Sea sick before,
Pipes of food forced through my throat,
Men violently vomiting,
Choking on their mukus
Another man died next to me,
I’ve never been Sea sick before,
Women stripped of their dignity,
innocence,
Now left bare in shame
I’ve never been Sea sick before,
Children told to dance for food,
Food they once plucked from their grandmothers tree,
I’ve never been Sea sick before,
Take me back to the land
For that is where I was once free
Now freedom is as distant as the land
I once came from,
I’m distant
Distant from my family
My friends,
my roots
This warrior
Who is a man
Who was once free
Is now a slave
I’ve never been Sea Sick before…
